Senior Project Manager
Project Insite is a boutique development and project management consultancy focused on high end residential projects for high-net worth individuals. Current projects include the refurbishment of a hotel into a private residence in South Yarra and the renovation of holiday home and associated civil-scale landscaping (land-sculpting) of the 14ha property ($15M). Combined value of projects $69M.

Director and Founder
Contracted as Senior Project Manager to tier 3 builder Valeo for the design and construction of a 11-storey apartment block adopting an innovative “top down” approach to overcome site constraints (contract value $26M.) Latent conditions were also encountered creating further challenges and, subsequently, more innovative solutions. This project was managed concurrently with the design and construction of a commercial office building in Cremorne adopting alternative construction systems as part of the value-managed proposal (contract value $14M). Other contract work involved streamlining the processes for a modular home builder Archiblox to enable lock-up to be achieved in 11 days (from previous average of over 90 days) and an overall project duration (from contract signing to installation and handover) of approximately 120 days.

Ontoit (formerly ISG Projects) is a boutique advisory and project management consultancy. The role involved growing the business into the ACT and NSW markets and involved numerous tender submissions to the Federal. ACT, NSW and Victorian Government Departments and the private sector, including two major Defence submissions.

Senior Manager - Sustainable Development
UrbanGrowth NSW (Landcom) is the NSW Government’s property development agency with a portfolio of highly significant projects in Sydney and Newcastle. The role involved working closely with the project delivery teams to foresee and solve complex construction issues.

  • Developed the new strategy & management system to enable UGNSW to demonstrate leadership in world-class development and construction outcomes

  • Worked closely with business assurance and commercial team to develop the organisation’s operating process, which included business case development, BCA thresholds, gateway submissions and the overall economic analysis of developments

  • Engineering solutions to enable energy efficiency of residential projects

  • Successfully had the organisation’s EH&S management system re-certified

Emirate of Abu Dhabi- Department of Municipal Affairs (UAE)

Advisor - Environmental and Sustainability Planning
Applied expertise in the built environment to the agencies responsible for building regulations, standards and programmes.

  • Develop guidelines for the Estidama (Sustainability) program for buildings and the public realm, which include street design, public realm, community facilities and government housing projects together with educational, cultural, commercial, logistics and industrial developments

  • Successfully launched the new Abu Dhabi International Building Codes (building, mechanical, energy conservation, plumbing, gas, sewage treatment & maintenance) considered ‘best-in-class’ regulations. Estimated economic benefit of AED 137Bn in energy savings by 2030 and AED 2.5Tn savings by 2064 by increasing the longevity of buildings from 25 to 50 years

  • Successfully promulgated the emirate-wide Sustainable Public Lighting Strategy, which involved the systematic retrofitting of 230,000 street lamps, technical specifications and design guidelines and the merging of two government departments. The economic analysis showed a ROI of 5.5 years. Programme value AED 1.7Bn

  • Peer reviewed the design and made recommendation for the construction of the STEP project, a 42km gravity sewer tunnel. Contract value AED 3.5Bn

  • Developed the business case for an 180,000 tonne refrigeration district cooling system

  • Developed the first phase of the emirate-wide Environmental Health & Safety Management System for the Construction Sector. Contract Value AED175M.

  • Introduced the use of BIM into building permit approvals process

Nakheel Waterfront City Development (UAE)

Design Manager
Success on the Tall Tower led to a subsequently promotion to establish and head the Design Department at Waterfront City - a new city for 1.7 million people on the Abu Dhabi-Dubai border and considered the world’s largest urban development with area of 14,000 hectares and a contract value of AED 750 billion (roughly AUD 300 billion).

  • Established the Design Department with an approved organisational chart for 17 staff.

  • Identified AED 11 billion (roughly AUD 4.4 billion) in savings in CAPEX and AED 900 million (roughly AUD 360 million) annual saving in OPEX by ‘right sizing’ utilities through recalculating district cooling load profiles

  • Developed the business case (and gained budget approval) for an automated waste collection system designed to service Waterfront’s medium and high-density precincts. CAPEX AED 1.5 billion (roughly AUD 600 million)
